Vinyl Plank Flooring Installation Cost (2026)
Short answer: expect about $3–$10 per square foot in labor to install luxury vinyl plank (LVP), on top of $2–$7 per square foot for the planks themselves. For a typical room you're often in the $1,000–$4,000 range all-in. We quote by the square footage after a quick look at the subfloor.
Typical costs
| Item | Typical range |
|---|---|
| LVP materials | $2 – $7 / sq ft |
| Installation labor | $3 – $10 / sq ft |
| Baseboards / quarter round | per linear foot |
| Subfloor prep / leveling | quoted if needed |
Why LVP is popular in Florida
Luxury vinyl plank is one of our most-requested floors here for good reason: it's waterproof, it handles humidity and the occasional wet mop far better than laminate, and it holds up to sand tracked in from the pool and beach. On a slab home it goes down as a floating floor, which is clean and quick when the slab is flat.
The part that decides your price: the subfloor
Most Florida homes are on a concrete slab. LVP needs a reasonably flat, dry, clean slab — if there are high and low spots, they telegraph through the planks and can cause flexing or gaps. Leveling and prep is the variable that moves a quote, which is why we look first instead of guessing over the phone.
Don't forget the trim
A floor only looks finished when the edges are. We run baseboards or shoe/quarter round to cover the expansion gap, and set clean transitions at doorways and where the new floor meets tile or carpet. It's the difference between 'DIY' and 'done.'
Frequently asked questions
- Can you install over my existing tile?
- Often yes — LVP can float over tile if it's sound and flat. If the tile is uneven or cracked, we'll talk through prep or removal.
- Do you move the furniture?
- We can handle moving furniture room to room as part of the job — just let us know when you book.
- How long does it take?
- A single room is usually a day; larger areas depend on square footage and any subfloor prep.
